Face 23 of "29 Faces"

This is a graphite pencil sketch to which I added some charcoal pencil to bring out the contrast.  I look forward to working more with charcoal.

I wish Stacy! No, this is a picture of my best friend's eldest daughter when we first met back around 1982 ... she is just as beautiful today as she was then .... about 3 years ago, during a visit, I noticed the photo and it was getting very old and brittle. I asked my friend if she would like me to try and do a pencil sketch of it for her ... and ended up with this drawing. I updated it with some new techniques I am learning, courtesy of J.D.Hillberry (a remarkable artist who specializes in graphite & charcoal drawings). His drawings are sooooooo amazing that I finally purchased his book "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil". So, in addition to learning new colored pencil techniques ... I am embarking on a quest to learn textures in graphite & charcoal pencil.

And you know the best part? My Etsy Shop(s) are making just enough to allow me to purchase the books and tools to further my self education. If it wasn't for Etsy, I would not have the ability to pursue my recent quests. Thank God for Etsy!

Big hugs, dear friend of mine,
Karen Anne

Hey Karen Anne ;o) So nice of you to do this drawing for your friend! And, that's excellent that the money from your Etsy shops is allowing you to education yourself on more artistic techniques! Well done my friend!

Karen Anne, how come you don't have your Etsy shops on your blog? Or am I too sick and I am not seeing them? LOL!

Thank you for pointing that out Stacy .... I have them listed ... but it is so small that one hardly notices the links.

I'll have to rectify that this coming week ....

I think I need to learn how to make a picture link ... if you have any short cuts ... I'd be grateful if you'd let me know! Thanks a bunch!

Big hugs good friend!
