Day 27 Face

I was extremely busy this past weekend and was not able to complete faces for days 25 and 26.  But today I finally made time to sit down a draw a face for Day 27!  Yeay!

I recently stumbled upon a YouTube video by J.D.Hillberry and I was so impressed with the video and enthralled by his techniques I ended up purchasing a book he has written titled "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil".  In the book he has included several tutorials on various techniques he has developed over the years.

For my Day 27 Face I followed his step by step instructions on how the draw a baby's face.  Now my drawing didn't turn out nearly as well as his, but I am happy never the less and delighted to be learning what he is so willing to teach and share.

If you are interested in learning his wonderful techniques, be sure to click on the link I have included above.  I am sure you will be as delighted by his charm and style as was I.

Happy Day,

Face 23 of "29 Faces"

This is a graphite pencil sketch to which I added some charcoal pencil to bring out the contrast.  I look forward to working more with charcoal.

Face 20 of "29 Faces"

Well, since we already have a Raggedy Ann it would seem appropriate that we include a Raggedy Andy!  Now, in our household .... no one wanted Raggedy Andy in his traditional garb ... my boys want Andy in a football outfit!  So, with some slight pattern adjustments ...  here is Andy in his football togs!

Face 18

Today was one of those days when I just couldn't settle on what to sketch, so I decided to try my hand at one of those drawings where you put the pen to the paper and don't lift it up again until you are finished ... a one line scribble drawing?   I don't know what it's called but here is my rendition ....

Face(s) 17 of "29 Faces"

Today is Face 17 and, since I don't have a lot of time, I am adding a painting I completed in 2011 that is full of faces!

"Forest Friendships"

Today, on a rainy day in February 1968, my husband and I were wed.
No gift can top the 44 years we have spent together!

Face 16

I guess I was in a silly mood today when I drew this sketch ... I was remembering when the kids were little and I would let them have a bubble bath and they would sink down below the bubbles and pop up!  I guess a good title for this sketch could be ....

"Bubble Wrapped"

Faces 12 and 13 of "29 Faces"

I originally drew these two sketches for Brenda Swenson's "75 Day Sketch Challenge" for Ayala Art's "29 Faces Challenge" I took the scanned images into Photoshop and added the black background ... I really like the contrast a black background adds!

Face 12 "Barred Owl"

Face 13 "Camel"

29 Faces Challenge

I am currently working on a "75 Day Sketch Challenge" on my other blog, IrelandBrady.blogspot.com, and I decided I would like to try the "29 Faces Challenge" that is being held over at Ayala Art's Blog.  In this challenge each entrant draws one face per day over a 29 day period, with the starting date being 2/1/2012.  In essence this is a "Leap Year" challenge and a fun one at that.  Since I didn't want to start another challenge on my IrelandBrady Blog I decided to post my faces in this blog.

Now, since this is a fairy oriented blog I decided I would try to keep the faces a bit on the impish side ... so without further ado ... here is Face 1 ....

There are now 24 entrants, if you would like to view the faces by these other talented artists just click on this link http://ilove2paint.blogspot.com/p/29-faces.html and you will find the list of artists.  To view their faces, simply click on their name and that link will transport you over to their blog!   What fun is that!

Letter to the Humming Belles and Beau from a Young Lad's Oma....

The Humming Belles & Beau recently received a wonderful letter and were so moved by what a young lad's Oma had to say that they asked that I share this letter with you.

"I am writing this letter to tell you that, with Stacy from Magic Love Crow, buying the boy paperdoll set, my Asperger's syndrome grandson has had the most fun I've seen him have this holiday vacation. He has worked really hard to color his clothes and has built Major, that's his (paper doll's) name, a closet and has him playing on his pirate ship alongside Jack Sparrow and Capt Barbosa.

This is such a lovely gifting from Stacy and your creation has been such a pleasure for us all.

Thanks so much.
Oma Linda"

Included was a coloring page the young lad had completed with great care and lots of love and they, The Humming Belles & Beau, could not resist posting his artistic endeavor's as well.  Job well done Ry!

The Humming Belles & Beau are very happy to be a part of this young
lad's life and look forward to receiving more completed colorings
from him and others to share with all of you.
Wishing you a Happy Coloring Day!
